Folklore
Biography
biography Rancho Típico de Alvorge belongs to the Folklore Section of the Social, Cultural and Recreational Center of Alvorge and was founded in 1984. The ranch is made up of around 50 members who have worked with commitment and dedication. The Rancho represents the way the people of this region dressed, sang and danced at the end of the 19th century, among other experiences that were recorded in the memory of time. This group has in its possession some original costumes (duly preserved) of which copies were made and others that were made from old photographs that are part of their archive. Thus, stately, Sunday and work costumes are represented, which aim to give an overview of the most varied daily activities of rural life in their villages. Of particular note are the millers, olive picking and pastoralism, which are notable activities in this region. This Ranch has four record recordings, has participated in some television programs, organized national and Iberian Folklore Festivals and several regional Colloquiums. Its objective is to encourage younger generations to join folklore. This group, since 2010, has had a Children's Folklore School where dozens of children participate. To complement their activity in the service of Folklore since 2014, they have an Ethnographic Center, where around 800 pieces that have been part of the experience of the people of their land for hundreds of years are preserved and exposed to the public. The ranch is an effective member of the Portuguese Folklore Federation and the Regional Folklore Association of the Leiria and Alta Estremadura Region.
