Pete tha Zouk

DJ
Biography
biography DJ Pete tha Zouk, whose real name is António Pedro, is a Portuguese dance music DJ and producer. He was born in Olhão, Algarve, in 1978, and began his career as a resident DJ in two spaces: Mitto, a bar that made a difference in the way the South views the beginning of the night, and at Locomia, a club that had the ocean as its backdrop, on Santa Eulália beach, where all the world-renowned DJs played during the summer season. In this club, he closely observed the work of global DJing where he learned from them. In 2002, the Portuguese magazine Dance Club awarded him the “DJ Revelação” award. In 2004, he won two awards from the same magazine: “Best Producer” and “Best Single of the Year” (with “Solid Textures”, in partnership with DJ Vibe). In 2005 and 2006, he won the title of “Best Portuguese DJ” at the Noite.pt Awards. In 2008 and 2009, he repeated the feat in the same awards. In 2010, he once again won the “Best Portuguese DJ” award given by the Radio Nova Era Awards, Best of the Year Awards and the Noite.pt Awards. In 2010, he started with “I’m Back Again”, a collaboration with Mastercris and the world famous Abigail Bailey, which reached the top of the charts and was part of several compilations around the world. The video clip was recorded on the magnificent island of Florianópolis by Portuguese director Leonel Vieira. The success of this song and the success of the performances in Brazil, Angola, Switzerland and Portugal were decisive for the year 2010 to end with two bombshells: the entry into the Top 100 of DJ Mag at number 81 and the edition of a song, “Check This Out”, by Sondos, publisher of the world famous Erick Morillo. In 2011, he was considered the 37th best DJ in the world according to DJ Mag's Top100, achieving the highest place ever for a Portuguese DJ in this top international reference. In 2012, it began with a partnership with British DJ and producer Rae on the song “Learn To Love”, whose music video was filmed entirely in Hollywood/Los Angeles and directed by Leonel Vieira. For the third consecutive year, he won the award for Best Portuguese DJ at Rádio Nova Era's prestigious Best of the Year awards. In the summer of 2012, it was the premiere of the biggest Portuguese summer festival – SWTMN – and Pete tha Zouk's performance served as the setting for the filming of the DJ's new song, a co-production with Deepblue that features the voice of North American Yasmeen, entitled “We Are Tomorrow”. DJ Pete tha Zouk is considered one of the best Portuguese DJs of all time and one of the most respected in the world of dance music, he continues to perform regularly in Portugal and abroad.
