biography Vitorino Salomé Vieira, better known as Vitorino, is a Portuguese singer born in Redondo, Portugal on June 11, 1942. His music combines traditional folklore, mainly from Alentejo, and the popular style of his voice. Born into a family of musicians and grew up listening to music played by his uncles, he is the third of five brothers, all equally musicians. Vitorino was present in some key moments of Portuguese Popular Music and was a stage partner of José Afonso, Adriano Correia de Oliveira, Fausto, Sérgio Godinho and other fundamental names in Portuguese music of the last thirty years. His first album was released in 1975 and included the song that would become his biggest hit: “Menina Estás À Janela”. He was the founder of the Rio Grande project together with Rui Veloso, Tim, João Gil and Jorge Palma. The debut album was released in December 1996. In December 1997, the album “Dia de Concerto” was released with live recordings from Rio Grande. When he celebrated his 35 years of career, he gave concerts at the Coliseums in Lisbon and Porto, which he called "35 Anos a Semear Salsa ao Reguinho", in an allusion to his 1st LP, accompanied by Orquestra das Beiras, with origins and connections to the University of Aveiro, where he invited some friends (musicians and non-musicians) to be with him on stage. He released a CD and a DVD, of the concert at the Coliseu in Lisbon, called "35 Anos a Semear Salsa ao Reguinho". Vitorino is an artist and musician concerned with national and international culture.
