biography Toy, whose real name is António Manuel Neves Ferrão, is a Portuguese popular singer, born on February 10, 1963, in Setúbal. His artistic career began at the age of 5, at a group party in Setúbal. At the age of 10, he joined a local theater group where he stayed for 10 years. After completing his studies, he emigrated to Germany, where he lived for 8 years, between the ages of 17 and 25. There he worked as a turner, but also as a producer for several artists and played with a group of guitars from Portugal and was a vocalist in a jazz group. In 1985, he released the single “Dias de Paz” in Portugal. His big break came when he wrote the songs “Portugal Sonhado”, “Tanto Mel Tanto Amor” and “Lembro-te” for Marco Paulo’s “Seduction” album, released in 1986. He returned to Portugal in 1988 and adopted the stage name Toy and released the single “Mulher Latina”. In April 1989, he released the single “Mãe (three letters of saudade)”. In 1990, he came in 3rd place at the Festival RTP da Canção with the theme “Mais e Mais” where he won the prize for the best performance, having subsequently signed a 5-year contract with the publisher Valentim de Carvalho. During the period he was linked to Valentim de Carvalho, he developed other works for television programs such as Buereré and 1-2-3. In 1997, he changed publishers, moving to Espacial. Toy is known for several popular songs and for his irreverent way of presenting himself in public, mixed with his high level of humility and sensitivity. Here are some of the most famous: - “Quem É Que Nunca Amou” (1993), - “Dança (Que A Noite Não Cansa)” (1995), - “Champanhe E Amor” (1995), - “Chama O António” (1996), - “És Verdade Louca” (1996).
