Biography
biography Diogo Lopes, better known as SYRO, is a Portuguese singer, songwriter and drummer. Born in Lisbon on February 23, 1995. SYRO began his musical journey at the age of 12 as a drummer. Later, he graduated in Jazz and Modern Music. SYRO was a member of the Portuguese Pop-Rock band Caelum’s Edge, which was founded in 2012 and won the first edition of the EDP Live Bands competition. He remained in the band until 2016. In 2018, SYRO decided to pursue a solo career and released his first single "Deixa Passar". In 2020, his musical career took off after the release of the single “Perto de Mim”, which won the hearts of millions of listeners and achieved impressive numbers on the platforms where it was released. In 2021, SYRO signed with Sony Music Entertainment Portugal and released the single "Casa". In the same year, he was nominated for the Play awards (Portuguese Music Awards) as New Artist. Still in 2021, in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment Portugal, SYRO released its first album “Genesis”, which includes some of its new singles and songs. SYRO also participated in the Festival da Canção in 2022, performing the theme "Não Nos Tem". Still in 2022, he was nominated for the MTV EMA awards (MTV Europe Awards). His great reference is the British singer Phil Collins, who is also a drummer. Because of this, SYRO has been nicknamed the “Portuguese Phil Collins” in interviews.
