Biography
biography Paulo de Carvalho is a Portuguese singer, musician and composer. Born in Lisbon on May 15, 1947 with the full name Manuel Paulo de Carvalho da Costa. He started as a drummer and in 1963 he was one of the founders of the band Sheiks, the band's success led to them being called «the Portuguese Beatles». In 1968, he served in the army and, after his return to civilian life, he was part of several groups, including Banda 4, the Fluido project and Thilo Krasmann's Thilo's Combo. In 1970, he began his solo career when he was invited by Pedro Osório and Carlos Portugal to play “Corre Nina”. Throughout his career, Paulo de Carvalho participated several times in the Festival RTP da Canção. He won first place in 1974 with “E Além do Adeus”. Paulo de Carvalho has an extensive discography, including albums such as “Eu, Paulo de Carvalho” (1973), “Não de Costas Mas de Frente” (1975), “M.P.C.C.” (1976), “Volume I” (1978) (1994), “33…vivo” (1995), “Fados Meus” (1996) and “Portugália” (1999).
