biography Neuza is a Cape Verdean singer, who stands out in the Cape Verdean traditional music scene, especially in the morna genre. Born in 1982, on the island of Santiago, in Cape Verde, and started singing since she was a child, influenced by her mother and grandmother, who were also singers. Neuza began his professional career in 2007, when he participated in the album “Cabo Verde Show”, with the song “Trabessado”. In 2008, he was part of the “Lantuna” project, which brought together several Cape Verdean artists to pay homage to Cape Verdean culture and music. In 2009, he released his first solo album, titled “Flor di Bila”, which featured hits such as “Tortura”, “Djar Fogo” and “Trabessado”. The album received the CaboMusic-Award in 2010 for the best morna album. In 2013, Neuza released his second solo album, titled “Talatona”. The album featured hits such as “Bo é nha Vida”, “Nha Sonho” and “Indimigo”. The album also received the CaboMusic-Award in 2014 for best morna album. In 2015, Neuza participated in the album “Cabo Verde Show - 40 Anos”, with the song “Nha Coração”. In 2016, she released her third solo album, entitled “Neuza canta Cesária Évora”, which was a tribute to the morna diva. The album featured hits such as “Sodade”, “Miss Perfumado” and “Mar Azul”. Neuza is one of the most talented and respected singers of the new generation of Cape Verdean music. He interprets the mornas and coladeiras, the most traditional genres of Cape Verde, with emotion and authenticity. It also mixes other rhythms, such as funaná, batuku and tabanka. He performed in several countries, such as Portugal, France, Holland, Angola and Brazil.
