biography Mickael Carreira, whose real name is Mickael Araújo Antunes, is a Portuguese singer and lyricist of Portuguese-speaking music. Alternates between Pop, Light and Latin genres. Mickael inherited the artistic nickname “Carreira” from his father’s stage name, Tony Carreira. With three studio albums released, two special edition albums and a live album, Mickael has obtained a total of 6 gold and 9 platinum records, which is equivalent to 170 thousand copies sold. He released his first two albums (including the two special editions) through the Vidisco label between 2006 and 2007. In 2009, he signed with the Farol Música label, through which he released the last two albums between 2009 and 2010. Mickael Carreira performs concerts in Portugal and in countries with predominantly Portuguese emigrant communities, such as France, Canada, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Born in Dourdan, Essonne, France, on April 3, 1986. He is the son of singer Tony Carreira and Fernanda Antunes, manager of her ex-husband's artistic career. Mickael has two younger brothers: David Antunes, also a singer, and a sister Sara Antunes, who passed away in December 2020 at the age of 21. He spent his childhood in France until the Carreira family returned to Portugal at the age of 15. He studied at a French conservatory where he learned to play the piano and, later, the guitar, which helped him a lot with his composing. His first album “É Verão Portugal” by his father Tony Carreira contains a track dedicated to Mickael, entitled “O Meu Pequeno Herói”. In addition to his musical career, Mickael Carreira was also a mentor on the program The Voice Portugal broadcast by RTP 1 from 2014 to 2018.
