biography Manuel Augusto Coentro de Pinho Freire OL is a Portuguese singer born in Vagos on April 25, 1942. He attended high school in Ovar and Aveiro, going on to study Engineering in Coimbra and Porto, without graduating. Manuel Freire is one of the leading figures of a generation of intervention musicians who sang during the Carnation Revolution.
