biography José Alberto Reis is one of the most popular romantic music singers in Portugal. He was born in Guimarães, on December 27, 1961, and began his career at the age of 18, with his first album “Sonhando”, released by EMI. Since then, he has released more than 20 albums and several singles, which were successful on radio and digital platforms. He collaborated with artists such as Carlos Paião, Vinícius, Ana Moura and Mariza. José Alberto Reis started singing at the age of 15, in his school's choir, where he learned to play the guitar and piano. In 1983, he performed his first show in Marco de Canaveses, where he performed “Nesta Tarde Sem Fim”, based on a poem by Fernando Pessoa. In 1985, he signed a contract with EMI - Valentim de Carvalho. In 1987, he released the singles “Amo-te” and “Setembro”. In 1988, he released his first album “Sonhando”. The album contained songs such as “Abraça-me Assim”, which became a silver record. In 1989, he participated in the RTP Song Festival with “Palavras Cruzadas”, unreleased by Carlos Paião, which came in fourth place. In 1990, he released his second album “Encanto”. The album contained songs such as “Eterna Melodia”, a version by Bertin Osborne. In 1992, he moved to the Vidisco publishing house. With the album “Alma Rebelde” (1994), he obtained his second silver record and two years later the gold record. He released the album “De Alma E Coração” (1995), which contained songs such as “Sol Maior”, a tribute to the musician Carlos Paião. In 1996, he released the album “Segredos”, which contained songs such as “Vesti-te de Rosa”, a duet with Ana Moura. In 1997, he celebrated ten years of his career with the edition of the compilation album “O Melhor” (by José Alberto Reis) with his best hits. In 1999, he released the album “Confia Em Mim”, through the Espacial label. In 2001, he released a new album, “Mágoa”, with thirteen songs, half of which were his own, where he invited Brazilian singer Vinícius to perform a duet on “Dois Amigos”. In 2004 he released the album "Amor intemporal". In 2006, he celebrated 20 years of career with the live recording of a double CD and a DVD with his main hits. Presenting the album at the Coliseu do Porto and the Coliseu dos Recreios. In May 2003, he sang ‘Vieste ao Mundo para ser Feliz’, accompanied by a children’s choir with the special participation of his daughter Helena. Since then, José Alberto Reis has continued to release albums, some of his latest works are: - Destino (2023), - Recomeço (2021), - 30 (2018), - Sonhando (2015), - Eterno melody (2015).
