biography D.A.M.A. is a Portuguese pop band, formed in 2008 in Lisbon. The band's name is an acronym for Deixa-me Aclarar-te a Mente Amigo, and its members are Francisco Maria Pereira (Kasha), Miguel Coimbra and Miguel Cristovinho. The band started by covering well-known songs, but quickly began composing their own songs, with influences from pop, rock, hip hop and Brazilian music. His lyrics talk about themes such as love, friendship, youth and society. In 2014, the band signed with Sony Music Portugal and released their first album, Uma Questão de Princípio, which included the hits Balada do Desajeitado (with Salvador Seixas), Às Vezes (with Gabriela Barros) and Luísa (with Richie Campbell). The album was a sales and critical success, and earned the band several awards and nominations, such as the Golden Globe for Best Group, the José da Ponte Award from the Portuguese Society of Authors and the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Artist. In 2016, the band released their second album, Dá-me um Segundo, which featured guest appearances by Diogo Piçarra, Ella Nor, Player and Paulo Sousa. The album maintained the band's pop style and positive lyrics, and included the singles Não Dá (with Diogo Piçarra), Tempo pra Quê (with Player) and Era Eu (with Paulo Sousa). The album was equally well received by the public and critics, and earned the band more awards and nominations, such as the Golden Globe for Best Song (for Não Dá) and the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Artist. In 2018, the band released its third album, Lado a Lado, which had as guests Carolina Deslandes, Cali y El Dandee, Nelson Freitas and Mike 11. The album showed an evolution in the band's sound, with more influences from Latin, African and electronic music. The album included the singles Oquelávai (with Nelson Freitas), Nasty (with Mike 11), Pensa Bem (with ProfJam) and Calma (with Carolina Deslandes). The album was another commercial and artistic success for the band, which continued to win fans inside and outside Portugal. In 2020, the band released its fourth album, Sozinhos à Chuva, which featured guests Bárbara Bandeira, Ivo Lucas and Buba Espinho. The album reflected the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic, but also conveyed a message of hope and optimism. The album included the singles Sozinhos à Chuva (with Bárbara Bandeira), A Ver se Agora Aprendo (with Ivo Lucas) and Casa (with Buba Espinho).
