Biography
biography Dino D’Santiago is a Portuguese musician, composer and activist of Cape Verdean descent, born in Quarteira on December 13, 1982. Son of Cape Verdean parents, Dino began to attract attention in 2003 in an RTP talent contest, “Operação Triunfo”, soon becoming involved in globalized urban music spaces through various adventures with soul, R&B or hip-hop (Dino & The SoulMotion, Expensive Soul or Nu Soul Family). Under his own name, he debuted in 2008 with “Eu e os Meus”, which was followed by “Eva” (2013), which won two Cape Verde Music Awards. In 2018, the year in which he participated in the Eurovision Festival Final (in Lisbon), in a moment created by Branko, a new stage in his life began to take shape with “Mundu Nôbu”, an album in which he found a signature that mixes afro-pop with a distinct vision of futuristic funaná and electronic batuku. In 2019, in the first edition of the Play Awards, he was distinguished in the categories of Best Solo Artist, Best Album and Critics Award. At the Cape Verde Music Awards, he won in the Best International Rhythm category. At the end of 2019, he added the EP “Sotavento” to his discography.
