Blind Zero

biography Blind Zero is a Portuguese alternative rock band formed in Porto, in 1994, by Miguel Guedes (vocals), Nuxo Espinheira (bass), Pedro Guedes (drums), Vasco Espinheira (guitar) and Pedro Vidal (guitar). The band is considered one of the most important and influential in national rock, having been the first to sing in English and win an award from MTV Europe. The band's first album, the EP Recognize, was released in 1995 and sold out in just nine days, becoming a collector's item. The album included songs such as “Recognize”, “Snow Girl” and “My House”, the latter winner of SCYPE (Song Contest for Youth Programs in Europe), a festival that brought together bands from across the European continent12. In the same year, the band opened for Smashing Pumpkins and Rage Against the Machine in Portugal. The first original album, Trigger, was released in 1996 and became the first rock album sung in English by a national band to achieve the Gold Record award. The album included songs such as “No Turn”, “Big Brother” and “More Than Ever”. The band was praised by national and international critics, being considered one of the revelations of the year by Blitz magazine. The band has released six more studio albums: Redcoast (1997), One Silent Accident (2000), A Way to Bleed Your Lover (2003), The Night Before and a New Day (2005), Luna Park (2010) and Kill Drama II (2017). In these albums, the band explored new sounds and influences, always maintaining the Blind Zero identity. The band also participated in several projects and collaborations with other artists, such as Mind Da Gap, Jorge Palma, Dana Colley and The Legendary Tigerman.
