Biography
biography Os Azeitonas are a Portuguese pop rock band that formed in Porto in 2002, composed of Mário Marlon Brandão (vocalist), Luísa Nena Barbosa (vocalist) and João Salsa Salcedo (vocalist and keyboardist). Azeitonas are a band that mixes tradition and modernity, irony and emotion, music and image, being one of the references of national pop rock. The band has five studio albums and a live DVD in its discography: “Um Tanto ou Quanto Atarantado” (2005), “Rádio Alegria” (2007), “Salão América” (2009), “Em Boa Companhia Eu Vou” (2011), “AZ” (2013) and “Banda Sonora” (2018). Azeitonas are known for their infectious and fun songs, such as “Quem És Tu Miúda”, “Anda Comigo Ver os Aviões”, “Café Hollywood”, “Ray-Dee-Oh” and “Tonto de Ti”, which won over the Portuguese public and diaspora communities. The band also has a strong connection to cinema and visual arts, having made music videos for almost all the songs on their latest album. Azeitonas were nominated for the Best Portuguese Act award at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards and participated in the 2021 Festival da Canção with the song “Guitarrista do Liceu”, which anticipates a new album to be released soon.
