Biography
biography Ana Moura is a Portuguese fado singer who was born in Santarém, on September 17, 1979. From an early age, she showed an interest in music and fado, having participated in children's competitions and festivals. Her professional career began when she was invited to sing at a fado house in Lisbon, where she caught the attention of several musicians and producers. In 2003, he released his first album, Guarda-me a Vida na Mão, which was well received by critics and the public and earned him the Amália Rodrigues Prize for Revelation of Fado. Her second album, Happened, came out in 2004 and consolidated her national and international success, taking her to perform in several countries and collaborate with artists such as Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and The Rolling Stones. In 2007, he released his third album, Para Além da Saudade, which was one of the best-selling in Portugal and which earned him several awards and nominations, such as the Golden Globe for Best Individual Performer and the nomination for the Latin Grammy for Best Traditional Regional Music Album or Roots. His fourth album, Leva-me aos Fados, came out in 2009 and followed the same line of success as the previous ones, having also been nominated for a Latin Grammy in the same category. In 2012, he released his fifth album, Desfado, which was a milestone in his career and in the history of fado, mixing the traditional genre with influences from jazz, soul and African music. The album was produced by Larry Klein and featured musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Tim Ries and Pedro da Silva Martins. Desfado was the best-selling album in Portugal in the 2010s and received several awards and distinctions, such as the José Afonso Prize, the Golden Globe for Best Album of the Year and the Autores Prize from the Portuguese Society of Authors. In 2016, he released his sixth album, Moura, which was also produced by Larry Klein and featured collaborations with names such as Miguel Araújo, Jorge Cruz, Samuel Úria and Sara Tavares. The album maintained the fusion between fado and other musical styles and was another sales and critical success in Portugal and abroad. In 2017, he received the Commendation of the Order of Infante D. Henrique for his contribution to the dissemination of Portuguese culture around the world. In 2020, he released his seventh album, Vinte Vinte (Prologue), which marked a radical change in his sound and image. The album was produced by Branko and featured the participation of Conan Osiris, Pedro da Linha and Pedro Mafama. The album presented a more modern and urban Ana Moura, exploring sounds such as pop, trap and electronica. The album was acclaimed by critics as one of the best of the year in Portugal and showed the singer's versatility and artistic courage.
