biography Amor Electro is a Portuguese pop music band that formed in Lisbon in 2010. The band is composed of Marisa Liz (vocalist), Tiago Pais Dias (guitarist and multi-instrumentalist), Ricardo Vasconcelos (keyboardist) and Mauro Ramos (drummer). Previously, the band also included Rui Rechena (bassist), who passed away in 2019. The band's characteristic is the fusion of rock music with electronic and traditional elements, using instruments such as the accordion and the Portuguese guitar. This band also covers Portuguese pop/rock classics from the 80s and 90s, by bands such as Sétima Legião, GNR, Ornatos Violeta, among others. The band's first album, Cai o Carmo e a Trindade, was released in 2011 and reached first place in the national sales chart. This album includes hits such as A Máquina (Acordou) and Rosa Sangue. In 2011 and 2012, the band was nominated for the Best Portuguese Act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2013, he received the European Border Breakers Award in the Netherlands. The band's second album, ®evolucion, was released in 2013 and included original songs and covers. The band also participated in the soap opera Mar Salgado, on SIC, with the same theme. In 2014, the band was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Song with Só é Fogo se Queimar. The band's third album, #4, was released in 2018 and had as its first single Manto de Água, a collaboration with fado singer Ana Moura, he participated in several solidarity projects and wrote the RTP anthem for Euro 2016, Juntos Somos mais Fortes. Amor Electro is one of the most popular and original bands in current Portuguese music, which combines modernity and tradition, emotion and energy, humor and social criticism. The band has a strong live presence and has performed at several festivals and venues across the country.
